Star England all-rounder Ben Stokes feels that he has not contributed enough for England in the ongoing Ashes series against Australia.

England have performed terribly in the Ashes 2021-22 against Australia and lost three back-to-back games in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne and now they are trailing by 0-3 in the 5-match Test series with two games remaining. Currently, the Three Lions are focused on avoiding a whitewash.

Ben Stokes made a comeback in the Ashes series after a long break which he took to focus on his mental well-being and so far Stokes has delivered an ordinary performance for the team scoring 101 runs and picking 4 wickets.

Speaking to Mirror Sport, Stokes said that England have performed “pretty average” in the ongoing Ashes.

Pretty average to be honest. Just getting back out there from a personal point of view, being back out amongst the lads has been great, but from a team point of view we are 3-0 down and that is what matters, I’ve not done much to change it, but I’d much rather that the results were going our way,” he said.

The 30-year-old all-rounder feels that England have shown a good fight against Australia in ” small stages” and they are fully capable to compete against the Aussies. He said:

We’ve shown in small stages that we’re capable. We’ve had some really good partnerships with the bat and the ball. We know we can compete.”

Ben Stokes further opined that England have to build some good partnerships consistently for a longer period to achieve success. He stated:

But we’ve not done it for long enough or consistently enough and Australia have managed to get through those periods where we’ve had the upper hand. It’s about doing it for longer than that and putting some pride back into the badge.”

The 4th match of the Ashes 2021-22 is scheduled to begin from January 5 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
