Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra talked about the reports of Varun Chakravarthy being picked in the Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He talked about the possibility of the mystery spinner being picked in the team for the tournament.

Varun Chakravarthy has been in the news for the last few days. This is because various media reports have suggested that the mystery spinner might be in contention to be picked in the Indian team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 because of his heroics of late.

Chakravarthy has been bowling pretty well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. He is Tamil Nadu's leading wicket-taker in the series and is making his case strong for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, especially with him troubling batters with his variations.

Aakash Chopra talked about the rumors of Varun Chakravarthy being in contention to be picked for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He highlighted how the spinner has been doing well in the domestic circuit, asking that if he gets picked, who will replace him in the team? Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

"Varun Chakaravarthy is picking up wickets one after the other. He has done well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy also. He took a five-wicket haul against Rajasthan and has been continuously doing well. Since he has returned to the Indian T20I team, he has been picking up wickets every single time,"

"The rumour market is hot, the Indian cricket atmosphere has become like that as we get a lot of source-based news and a few of them come true, that Varun Chakravarthy could be picked for the Champions Trophy. If he gets picked, who will go out - Ravindra Jadeja? That's what I have been hearing."

Aakash Chopra also talked about the reports of Ravindra Jadeja's future in ODIs, saying that Chakravarthy might be added in his place with Axar Patel being the all-rounder. He added:

"I hope I hadn't heard that, but it has come now that Ravindra Jadeja might not be picked, and you might see Varun Chakaravarthy in his place in the XI. There is a strong possibility. So you will see Axar in place of Jaddu."

The Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to be announced soon. It remains to be seen who will be there in the team for the tournament
