Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra recently spoke about BCCI’s plans to upgrade all the stadiums for the ICC World Cup 2023. The event will be played in October-November later this year and the board is planning to upgrade the facilities of all the stadiums. The BCCI has reportedly allotted 50 crores each for renovation work at all the stadiums.
The World Cup will be played in 10 venues. Apart from Ahmedabad which will host the final, matches will be played in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Dharamsala and Pune. Every venue is slotted to host five games each as per the schedule.

Chopra in his recent Youtube video gave some suggestions that the BCCI might consider while they work on getting the stadiums ready for the main event. The former Indian batsman looked back on some of the taken by the BCCI in their recent Apex Council Meeting.
“Money will be allotted for stadium upgradations. I think 50 crore rupees per venue. Let’s make this World Cup a wonderful spectacle, which we all expect, as it has come to India after a long time. It won’t be enjoyable if we don’t make the viewer experience beautiful” said Chopra.
Chopra himself recommended some changes for the BCCI to conder making the event spectator-friendly. The most important point he kept was about sanitation and hygiene.

“What are the important things that should be done in my opinion? Specially-abled people, you need to make ramps for them. I will say you need to make a good experience for them. I feel the second thing required is just the washrooms and sanitation and the cleanliness. You have to make it absolutely top-notch” he added.

Aakash Chopra further spoke about adding roofs to all the grounds as matches will be played in the afternoon and under the scorching heat making it difficult for the spectators. He also spoke about having pure and clean drinking water facilities.
Team India kick off their campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. They will play against their arch-rivals Pakistan on October 15 in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium which hosts 120000 spectators.
