India Playing 11 vs Australia – 3rd ODI, 2023. India take on Australia in the third ODI in Rajkot to round off the IND vs AUS ODI series on Wednesday, September 27. The match starts at 1.30 pm IST with India eyeing to clean sweep the Aussies. They have already won the series by winning the first two ODIs.

Heading into the third ODI, the Indian team will have their big match players return. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will return back into the squad along with Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav. Reports in ESPN Cricinfo say that as many as five Indian players namely Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami, and Axar Patel have not traveled with the Indian team to Rajkot.

For India, seven players will not be a part of the third ODI namely Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Prasidh Krishna, Mukesh Kumar, and Axar Patel. While Gill and Thakur have been rested, Axar has not yet recovered from his quadricep injury and is rehabilitating at the NCA. The rest of the players were in the squad for the first two games.

As a part of the rotational policy Shami will make way for Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah will make a comeback after missing the second ODI due to personal reasons. Axa’s prolonged injury means R Ashwin will most probably get another game and bowl in tandem alongside Ravindra Jadeja.

Australia have now lost five ODIs on the trot. They lost three consecutive games against South Africa and now two against India ahead of their World Cup opener against India in Chennai on October 6. Australia defeated India 2-1 earlier this year in an ODI series. With the senior players back India now have a chance to avenge the previous series defeat.
