Yashasvi Jaiswal Among These Indian Players Ready To Make Debut In IND vs WI Test; India’s Playing XI Confirmed. The BCCI named a 16-member squad for the IND vs WI Test series. The two-match Test series kicks off with the first Test in Dominica from July 12-16. The second test will be played from July 20-24 in Trinidad.

Barbados, Trinidad, and Guyana will host the six limited-overs matches, consisting of three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The final two T20Is are scheduled to take place in Florida, USA. The series is expected to commence on July 12 and conclude on August 13.

The BCCI has backed the veterans for the series. They have also included youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, and Mukesh Kumar all of whom are yet to play Test cricket for India.

Cheteshwar Pujara was dropped from the series. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami was rested. Mohd Siraj will lead the pace attack. Umesh Yadav who played in the WTC final against Australia was also rested.

The Test series kicks off India’s WTC 2023-25 campaign. The series is a perfect opportunity for the BCCI to Test out youngsters. The batting-friendly conditions of the Caribbean wickets will also help the batters. The Indian team has reached West Indies and has started their practice sessions.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Jaiswal impressed one and all in IPL 2023 scoring 625 runs in 14 matches and ending as the fifth highest run-getter. The southpaw also has a good domestic record playing for Maharashtra. The southpaw is averaging 80.21 scoring over 1800 runs in just 15 FC matches.

In 32 List A matches, he has scored over 1500 runs averaging 53.96. He has made the hard yards in domestic cricket and deserves a place in the Test side keeping India’s future in mind. Jaiswal might bat at three replacing Cheteshwar Pujara in the lineup.

Ishan Kishan

Kishan can replace KS Bharat in the XI and make his Test debut for India. Many expected him to play the WTC final but the management backed Bharat which was not a great move in the end.

The Southpaw scores run quickly and can be an ideal replacement for Rishabh Pant in the batting order. With Pant still recovering from his near-fatal accident, Kishan can be given a long run instead of Bharat in the XI now.

Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar is the final name on this list who can make his Test debut in the IND vs WI the first Test. In the absence of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, India needs a pacer who can swing the ball and Mukesh can be an answer to that.

The 29-year-old has picked up 149 FC wickets and 26 List-A wickets. The Test series will be a good opportunity to Test his bowling skills in the longest format.
