Royal Challengers Bangalore had a bright start to the IPL 2021 season but went on to lose their momentum at the latter stages of the tournament. They ended up losing out in the playoffs and they will be hoping to make a big statement by having a good mega auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are yet to win an IPL trophy and they will not have their regular skipper Virat Kohli in the leadership role. They will also miss AB De Villiers who has part ways with the game and their retention is expected to be Glenn Maxwell, Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel, or Mohammad Siraj. Here are 3 big players who won’t be retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore.

IPL 2022: 3 Big Players Who Won’t Be Retained By Royal Challengers Bangalore

Devdutt Padikkal:

Devdutt Padikkal was picked up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the previous IPL auction of 2020 and he had a big impact on the franchise straightaway. The elegant left-hander after an excellent season was awarded a place in the Indian side as well in the recent tour to Sri Lanka.

Padikkal has been seen as the future of Indian cricket, and teams might be willing to pick him up. However, Padikkal is unlikely to be retained by the franchise as they have two batters on the retention list with the likes of Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxell in reckonings.

Washington Sundar:

Washington Sundar might be one of the names discussed in the RCB dressing room but he is unlikely to be retained despite being one of the youngsters who can be groomed. Sundar hasn’t been quite effective as he was earlier in the IPL seasons and hasn’t had a consistent run in the RCB franchise as well.

Sundar did not take part in the IPL 2021 UAE phase due to his injury and RCB did not look like missing him in the playing XI as well. He is one of the upcoming all-rounders in the Indian circuit and can be very economical in the powerplay.

Adam Zampa:

Adam Zampa is currently one of the top leg spinners going around in the world and he can have a big impact on any team he plays. The Australian spinner was phenomenal in the recent T20 World cup 2021 and played a key part in their successful campaign.

He did take part in the UAE phase of IPL 2021 and despite his excellent form, he could be the one overseas player to miss out on the retention list. Yuzvendra Chahal is likely to get the nod ahead of him with his experience in the IPL.
