IPL 2022 Auction: Predicted Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Squad With The Currently Retained And Available Released Players
MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni has been retained by the franchise for Rs. 12 crore and there are no doubts that he will again lead the franchise in the next season. MS Dhoni has successfully proved his captainship by winning 4 titles for the team so far. Although he is not able to recreate his hard-hitting batting show now, Dhoni is a brilliant option for a skipper and wicketkeeper for the team.

Ravindra Jadeja
CSK retained Ravindra Jadeja in the highest salary cap, giving the all-rounder Rs. 16 crore deal for IPL 2022. Jadeja was fabulous with his batting and bowling in IPL 2021. The left-handed batsman scored 227 runs in 9 innings at an average of 75.66 with 1 half-century. He also picked 13 wickets while bowling at an economy of 7.06.
Moeen Ali
Moeen Ali is another player that CSK has retained in the squad for IPL 2022. The franchise signed him for Rs. 7 crore in the last auction. As an all-rounder, Ali did a great job for the team in IPL 2021. He scored 357 runs in 15 innings at an average of 25.50 and also picked 6 wickets while bowling. Moeen Ali gives incredible support to the team at no.3 batting position with his ability to pile up runs in the middle-overs effectively.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
Chennai Super Kings also retained Ruturaj Gaikwad for IPL 2022 for Rs. 6 crore after his impeccable batting show in last season. Playing as an opener for the team, Gaikwad slammed 635 runs in 16 games finishing as the leading run-getter of the tournament. The right-handed batsman also slammed 1 century and 4 half-centuries.
Faf du Plessis
Although CSK did not retain Faf du Plessis, the franchise will definitely aim to buy him back during IPL 2022 auction. Along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, Plessis was the leading force for CSK’s dominant batting in IPL 2021. The right-handed batsman slammed 633 runs in 16 games at an average of 45.21, hitting 6 fifties in the process.
Sam Curran
Sam Curran will be another player whom CSK will look to bring back to their squad. The England player was only part of IPL 2021 first leg but gave a commendable performance for the team. The all-rounder scored 56 runs in 9 games and also picked 9 wickets. The 23-year-old player will be a valuable player for the team in the future and CSK will try their best to buy him back in IPL 2022 auction.
Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur did an outstanding job for the team in IPL 2021. The right-arm pacer picked 21 wickets in 16 games and was the top wicket-taker for CSK. Hence, the franchise might aim to pick him back in the squad. Thakur is also a useful tailender batsman with his ability to pile up runs at the lower-order if the need arises.
Trent Boult
CSK might also target Trent Boult during IPL 2022 auction. The New Zealand pacer was released by Mumbai Indians. In the past two seasons, he did a fabulous job for the team. Being a left-arm pacer, Boult also gave depth to pace attack.

T Natarajan
T Natarajan might be the pacer that CSK target in IPL 2022 auction. Natarajan rose to fame with his performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020 season. He got injured in IPL 2021 and played just 2 games. In 24 IPL games so far, the left-arm pacer has scalped 20 wickets at an average of 34.40.
Ravichandran Ashwin
For the spinner, CSK might pick Ravichandran Ashwin in IPL 2022 auction. Ashwin was released by Delhi Capitals. In the past, Ashwin was a part of Chennai Super Kings in the tournament. With his international comeback in T20Is, Ashwin has gained the limelight as a T20 bowler once again.
Nitish Rana
For the middle-order batsman, CSK might go for Nitish Rana. Being part of Kolkata Knight Riders, Rana has given a consistent batting performance in the last few IPL seasons. In IPL 2021, the left-handed batsman scored 383 runs in 16 games at an average of 29.46.
Manish Pandey
For another middle-order batsman, CSK might also target Manish Pandey in IPL 2022 auction. Manish Pandey was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was criticized for playing a few slow innings during IPL 2021. However, he ended as the top run-scorer for SRH in the tournament, smashing 292 runs in 8 games at an average of 48.66.

Steve Smith
Chennai Super Kings might consider picking Steve Smith for IPL 2022. Due to his popularity as more of a Test specialist, not many teams will aim to go for Smith in the auction. However, Smith can be a good middle-order batsman for any team. He was released by Delhi Capitals. In IPL 2021, the right-handed batsman scored 152 runs in 7 games at an average of 25.33.
Priyam Garg
CSK might also go for Priyam Garg as one of the middle-order batsmen in the squad. Garg was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of IPL 2022 auction. He played 5 games in IPL 2021, scoring 72 runs at an average of 14.40. He has played only two seasons so far and can be useful if given more opportunities to play.
Glenn Phillips
CSK might also choose Glenn Phillips as a backup wicketkeeper for the team. He was part of the Rajashthan Royals in IPL 2021. He played just 3 games in which he scored 26 runs. While MS Dhoni is a permanent wicketkeeper option for the franchise, they need to have a backup wicketkeeper for the team if MS gets unfit to play any match.
