This IPL 2022 season was all about opportunities. Both the Indian and overseas international players grabbed this opportunity with both hands and made a case for their inclusion in international cricket. Gujarat Titans winning their maiden IPL title in their very first season gave all the more meaning to the tagline of the IPL ‘where talent meets opportunity.
Like the Indian capped players, several uncapped players also did phenomenally well in the IPL season. Courtesy of their consistent performances the likes of Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh have got their maiden international call-up for India. In this article, we take a look at the best Indian uncapped XI of the tournament.

Abhishek Sharma

The SRH opener had his best season in the IPL so far in his brief career. He was his side’s top run-getter this season with 426 runs from 14 games that included 47 fours and 13 sixes. He batted with a cool and calm head in an XI where no other batsmen fired consistently.

Rahul Tripathi

Tripathi who is an opener by choice batted at number three of four for SRH in the IPL. He has been consistently scoring runs in the last few IPL seasons, In fact, he is the top run-getter in the league among the uncapped players. In this IPL season, he scored 413 runs from 14 games including three fifties. Despite him scoring runs, Tripathi did not find a spot in the Indian T20I squad announced for the series against South Africa.
Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma was the biggest positive for Mumbai Indians alongside Tim David this season. He consistently scored 30s and 40s which became critical to Mumbai’s end score. He built key partnerships with Suryakumar Yadav in the middle guiding his team. He ended the season with 397 runs at a strike rate of 131.02 including two fifties.
Rajat Patidar

RCB found a gem in Rajat Patidar this season. He was called in as a replacement for Luvnith Sisodia but the MP cricketer became one of the key run-getters in the second half of the season. Batting at number three for RCB, he played a few crucial innings. He also became the first uncapped player to score a century in the playoffs as he scored an unbeaten 112 against LSG in the IPL 2022 Eliminator.
In Qualifier 2, Patidar was the top scorer for the team with 58 off 42 balls and ended the season on a high. Overall, he scored 333 runs this season.
Rinku Singh

The southpaw finally found consistent opportunities for KKR after staying with the side for four seasons. KKR kept chopping and changing their playing XI and finally found Rinku scoring runs batting at number five. He scored 40 off just 15 balls in KKR’s last league game against LSG to leave a big impact on the side and on the tournament overall.
He played a few cameos leading to that game as well. Overall, he scored 174 runs in just seven games.
Jitesh Sharma (WK)

Punjab’s Jitesh Sharma has one of the best strike rates this season. The youngster was picked up by the Punjab Kings after his performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali for his stateside where he has hit the most sixes in the tournament. His best this season was against Delhi Capitals where he scored 44 off 24 and played an array of delightful strokes. Overall, he scored 234 runs at a strike rate of 163.64. He can take the wicketkeeper for this XI.
Harpreet Brar

Though he did not get many opportunities this season, Brar makes it to this XI courtesy of his performances in only the few games that he played. He gives this team a left-handed spinning option and someone who can tonk the ball at number seven.
Mukesh Choudhary

The young CSK pacer made an impact this season when he picked up 16 wickets ion the season. 11 of them came inside the powerplay with his best performance coming against Mumbai Indians. He picked up 3/19 in three overs to help the team in winning the game against their arch-rivals.
Mohsin Khan

The tall left-arm pacer was almost unplayable this season. He made the full use of his height and bowled in good lengths to disturb the batsmen. Many of the batsmen failed to counter his pace and bounce and the best of him came against KKR. In nine matches, he picked up a total of 14 wickets at an economy of 5.97. His best of 4/ 16 came against Delhi Capitals.
Umran Malik

Malik ended the season with 22 wickets and consistently clocked speeds over 150. His best came in the latter half of the tournament where he picked up a lot of wickets and majority of them in the middle-overs. He was also picked in the Indian squad for the South Africa T20I series.
Arshdeep Singh

The left-arm pacer concludes the best Indian uncapped XI of the season. He picked 10 wickets in the season but was immaculate with his line and length. He was also named in the Indian squad that was announced for the T20I series against South Africa.
