Kolkata Knight Riders finished as the runner-ups of IPL 2021 and they missed out on the chance of winning their IPL title in the tournament history. Kolkata has a lot of youngsters who can be groomed for the future and hence, they might not be going after the experienced hands in terms of the Indian contingent.
They are likely to retain Sunil Narine and Andre Russell as their first two choices for retention ahead of the mega auction in 2021 and their remaining two picks are going to be very interesting. Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy are expected to be the choices and here are 3 big players who won’t be retained by Kolkata Knight Riders

IPL 2022 Retention: 3 Big Players Who Won’t Be Retained By Kolkata Knight Riders
Eoin Morgan:
Eoin Morgan led Kolkata Knight Riders to the finals of the IPL 2021 and almost pulled off a title win for them, but it might not be enough to retain his place in the next season. With the mega auctions coming up, Kolkata would be preferring to go for an Indian captain or even a youngster to groom for the future.
Morgan has not done justice to his position in the side as a batsman and that is one of the reasons behind the franchise not retaining him. He is still one of the most destructive limited-overs players going around and maybe, he will have to move to some other franchise given that he is unlikely to be retained.
Dinesh Karthik:
Dinesh Karthik is another name that has been under the scanner for a while and the former KKR captain would have liked some more runs under his belt. He had a fantastic 2018 season finishing off games from the middle order and his captaincy was great as well.
However, after analyzing his personal form, he stepped down from captaincy and he is unlikely to feature in the players to be retained by the KKR side. Karthik has immense experience and can be a great option for any franchise if he gets into the mega auction.
Pat Cummins:
Pat Cummins was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a high price ahead of the 2020 season and he failed to live up to his reputation in the edition. However, he looked much more effective in the 2021 IPL edition but might not end up finding a spot in the retention list of KKR.
With Sunil Narine and Andre Russell being two big match-winners, Cummins might not get the nod from the KKR side, and considering his workload, Cummins could be a risky option as well. The fast bowler is one of the best in the business and he can gain a huge price if goes into the auction.
