Delhi Capitals registered their 2nd win of the Indian Premier League as they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 44 runs. The star for DC with the ball was Kuldeep Yadav who picked up 4 wickets. He is now the leading wicket-taker along with Umesh Yadav.
Earlier in the day Shreyas Iyer won the toss and put DC to bat first. DC was off to a flier as openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner added 50 runs in just 4 overs.

Prithvi Shaw completed his second consecutive 50
Prithvi Shaw soon completed his second consecutive 50 but then got out to a brilliant delivery by Varun Chakravarthy in the 9th over.

Rishabh Pant came into bat at 3 and hit a quickfire 27 off 14 balls. He got out trying to play an uppercut to Andre Russell. DC lost their way in the middle as they lost a set David Warner for 61 runs. Sunil Narine accounted for the wickets of Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell. At one point it seemed as if Delhi would score somewhere near 220+ but KKR got things back in their favour a lit bit.

Despite the little collapse though, Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel added more than 40 runs in little over 3 overs to take DC to 215-5. Thakur scored 29 runs off just 11 balls.
One decision that left everyone surprised was that Sarfaraj Khan wasn’t sent into bat all. This is despite the fact he had a good outing for DC in their last game at number 5.
Kolkata Knight Riders did not have a great start to their chase as they lost both their openers for just 38 on the board.

Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana then combined together to stitch together 69 runs partnership in the middle. Nitish got out to Lalit Yadav on a full toss and Iyer too soon departed after completing his first half-century since IPL 2020. After Iyer’s wicket, it went wrong for KKR as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Khaleel got the better of Sam Billings and then Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets in his last over to close things down for KKR. Andre Russell tried his best to close the gap but he struggled to connect it with the middle of the bat. In the end, Shardul Thakur finished it off with a couple of wickets.
Here’s how twitter reacted to Delhi Capitals’ win over KKR:

Apart from those talented first timers in this ipl, the story for me is Kuldeep Yadav’s return. He is really good with his pace and spin variations. #DelhiCapitals

Confidence is/was the key @imkuldeep18 #KKRvsDC— Vikrant Gupta (@vikrantgupta73) April 10, 2022
Kuldeep Yadav has learnt his lessons. Used to bowl in the 80s.
Regularly bowling at 90+ kph now and also varying his speed well. Results are already visible this season.#KKRvDC pic.twitter.com/oS8sROqfBT
