England speedster Ollie Robinson has been ruled out of the 4th Ashes Test against Australia which will begin from January 5 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Ollie Robinson has been ruled out of the Sydney Test due to a shoulder niggle, and veteran pacer Stuart Broad has been included in the playing XI. Broad will join England’s attack consisting of Mark Wood, James Anderson and spinner Jack Leach.

This will be Broad’s second game in the series as he was not included in England’s playing XI for the Brisbane and Melbourne Ashes Test.

However, despite getting bowled out for 68 in the second innings of the Boxing Day Test against Australia, England have made no changes in their batting line-up. Currently, England are down 0-3 in the 5-match Test series.

We felt like it was too much of a risk to go in with a couple of lads who are carrying niggles, So, therefore, it was right to bring Stuart back in,” England’s assistant coach, Graham Thorpe, said.

Stand-in head coach Graham Thorpe has said that they have got a couple of “caged tigers” heading into the 4th Test.

I hope we’ve got a couple of caged tigers coming into this match, Ben being one of them and Stuart Broad another, Getting the players into the right frame of mind is important. I think they want put in a performance for themselves and collectively for the team,” he said.

Notably, Thorpe was appointed as stand-in head coach after Chris Silverwood was tested positive for Covid-19.

Preparations have been tough … we’ve had the distractions of COVID, which have been challenging to say the least,” Thorpe said. “But we also know that we haven’t played good enough cricket when we’ve been out in the middle either. We’ve got an opportunity this week at a great cricket ground to put in a really good performance,” Thorpe added.
