India vs West Indies Weather Forecast And Pitch Report, 1st ODI, India Tour Of West Indies 2022. India will play against West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on 22nd July 2022 in the 1st ODI at 7 pm IST.

India is on an 11-series winning streak against West Indies in the ODI format (4- West indies & 7 – India) and has never lost after 2007 in the ODI series. The Asian giants had beaten England by 2-1 in the tough English conditions in the last ODI series. West Indies lost 3-0 in the ODI series against Bangladesh on home soil.

The three ODI games will take place from July 22 to July 27. Then, the five T20I games will be played from July 29 to August 7. India has announced the squads for both the ODI and T20I series. West Indies has only announced the ODI squad so far.

West Indies are all set to face India in the 3-match ODI series to kick off the tour. Indian team has rested several of its first-choice players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah and given chances to the next set of players to push their case for selection in this ODI series.

West Indies managed to outplay Bangladesh in their previous T20I series 2-0. In the ODI series, West Indies faced a humiliating 0-3 loss. India recently played a T20I and ODI series against England and they managed to win both the series 2-1.

They defeated England by 50 runs in the 1st T20I and 49 runs in the 2nd T20I but lost the 3rd T20I by 17 runs. In the ODI series, the Asian Giants won the 1st ODI by 10 wickets but lost the 2nd by 100 runs before winning the 3rd ODI by 5 wickets.

The two teams last played a T20I and ODI series earlier in February this year. India managed to defeat West Indies in all three ODIs and three T20Is, winning both the series 3-0. Now, West Indies have a chance to avenge their defeat on home soil.

West Indies openers Shai Hope, Brandon King, and Kyle Mayers are short of runs at the top and will need to step up in this series. Nicholas Pooran was the only half-centurion in the last series and will hope his middle-order batters Shamarh Brooks, Rovman Powell, Keacy Carty, and Jason Holder stand up and deliver with the bat.

All-rounder Jason Holder returns to the squad and will join with Alzzari Joseph and Jayden Seales in the pace attack while Keemo Paul and Kyle Mayers add variety to the pace unit. Spinner Gudakesh Motie was the biggest positive from the last series and he will hope to continue his good form alongside Akeal Hossain in this series.

The Indian team will be led by Shikhar Dhawan in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Sanju Samson might fight for the second opener’s slot with Sanju Samson expected to be the front-runner. Regulars Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer will slot in the middle order alongside Deepak Hooda and Shubman Gill.

The pace attack will have the likes of Avesh Khan, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshdeep Singh in the squad. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj are expected to share the new ball with Arshdeep Singh expected to take up the third pacer’s role. Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja will form the formidable bowling attack in the spin department.

Trinidad weather looks bright and sunny which is perfect for getting a full game with no interruptions whatsoever. No rain or weather disturbances are expected as per the forecast. Queen’s Park Oval is expected to be a good pitch with something for both batters and bowlers.

The pitch might ease out as the game progresses, and one expects batters to take advantage of it. Average scores of 270-280 runs are expected in this match. Both teams will look to chase the total in this match as they will be unsure of the pitch conditions on offer. Early moisture might help the bowlers during the start of the match.
