Rajasthan Royals will head into the IPL 2022 mega auction with a purse of 62 crores after the retention. They retained only three players and have to do a lot of window shopping in the upcoming mega auction. Sanju Samson (INR 14 crore), Jos Buttler (INR 10 crore), Yashasvi Jaiswal (INR 4 crore) were the players retained by the franchise.

The Royals have more than one department to cover up in the mega auctions. A hefty purse of 62 crores thus becomes an advantage for the franchise in comparison to CSK, KKR or Mumbai Indians who have 48 crores each heading into the auction.

There are reports that this might be the last mega auction in IPL before the next one happens in some time. Keeping that in mind, here is a list of players The Royals might target in the upcoming auctions.

Rajasthan Royals can do very well if they manage to buy even two options from the above-mentioned players. All these players have been reputed T20 players for England and are well-travelled as well.

Bairstow and Roy have previous experience of playing in the IPL and they play spin very well. With Bairstow, the franchise gets an additional option as keeper along with Sanju Samson.

Middle-Order Batsmen – Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi

Samson will bat at number three for the Rajasthan Royal. Along with him, Nitish Rana can be his ideal foil in the middle-order. Rana played for KKR from 2018 to 2021 and was one of their consistent run-scorers in the middle-order.

Rahul Tripathi is another option. He was associated with the Royals before making a move to KKR in IPL 2020. both these batsmen are good at keeping the scoreboard moving in the middle-overs.

All-Rounders- Mohammad Nabi, Mitchell Marsh

Rajasthan invested heavily in Chris Morris the all-rounder in IPL 2020 and 2021. The experiment failed badly. Ahed of a new season, they yet again need reputed all-rounders. This is where the franchise can look at a Mohammad Nabi or a Mitchell Marsh.

Marsh has been in outstanding form since the T20 World Cup for Australia. He kept his form going in the BBL for Perth Scorchers. Another good option will be Nabi. He can bowl useful off-spin and can tonk the ball in the final overs.

Spinners- Tabraiz Shamsi, Ish Sodhi, Kuldeep Yadav

The franchise needs to buy good spinners keeping the future in mind. This is where a bowler like Kuldeep Yadav will be useful for the franchise. He fell out of favour for Kolkata and with Rajasthan looking to rebuild for the future, Kuldeep can be an ideal option.

Either Shamsi or Ish Sodhi bowling from the other end can become a deadly combination for opposition batsmen.

Pacers- Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The absence of Jofra Archer due to injury has hurt the chances of the Rajasthan Royals. Given that overseas internationals from England and New Zealand might miss the final stages of the season, the franchise should look to rope in good quality Indian pacers. Umesh and Navdeep will give the bowling attack the raw pace and Bhuvcneshwar Kumar will bring his experience into play. The three can become a good pace-bowling trio for the franchise.
