"A Phenomenal pacer'- that's what we can call Prasidh Krishna with his 140+ speed and consistent line and length. Prasidh Krishna is an emerging India pacer who has represented Team India in a few games.
Prasidh Krishna is a right-arm pacer. He is a powerful pacer who is preferred for the longest format of the games. The right arm made his international debut in 2021.
Krishna was part of the Indian team that finished as runners-up in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He was also part of the team in Asia Cup 2023, where India grabbed the trophy.
Early Life and Career
Prasidh Krishna was born in Bangalore City in Karnataka on February 19, 1996. Interestingly, Krishna belonged to a sports background as his mother Kalawati Krishna was a volleyball player. His father Murali Krishna also played cricket.
Since 2015, Krishna has been a regular member of the Karnataka domestic team. In 2016, he made his List A and T20 debut for Karnataka. For a few years, he went on to impress in the domestic circuit.
The right arm got a big break in 2018 when he was picked in the India A team for the Emerging Asia Cup tournament. He also made his IPL debut in 2018. With a consistent show for a few years, he earned a call on the national side.
International Career
Prasidh Krishna made his international debut in March 2021 during an ODI series against England. Two years later, he made his Test debut for India against South Africa in December 2023. He also made his T20I debut in 2023.
After his ODI debut, Krishna was seen as a reliable ODI bowler and went on to play a series of games. However, after playing 17 games, he faced a big injury due to which he almost missed the field for a year. Krishna is one of the few young pacers who has played for Team India in all three formats.
IPL Career
Prasidh Krishna made his entry in IPL in the 2018 season when Kolkata Knight Riders picked him in their squad. He played for the side till the 2021 season. In the IPL 2022 mega auction, Rajasthan Royals grabbed him for a huge amount of Rs. 10 crore.
Krishna gave a wonderful show in the 2022 season, getting 19 wickets at 8.29 economy for Rajasthan Royals. He played a big role in driving the team to the final, where they ended as runners-up.
After IPL 2022, Krishna became a prominent pacer for RR. However, due to injuries, he was ruled out of the 2022 and 2023 seasons. RR retained him in their squad despite his absence.
